Kim dennis

Kim was first introduced to Pilates back in 2006 just after the birth of her first child when her aunt raved about this incredible method of fitness that had vastly improved how she felt in her body. Growing up as a dancer, Kim always had strength, flexibility and a well-aligned posture. However, years of a desk-job, including lots of on-the-road travel, and the changes to her body from pregnancy and childbirth had her feeling slumped, tight, and sore, so she decided to give the method a try to rebuild the postural strength she had lost and was immediately hooked. After two more children in less than two years, Kim decided to ditch her career as a CPA and throw herself full-time into motherhood, volunteer work and fundraising in her community. She joined several boards, managed some lucrative campaigns, and continued her focus on her personal fitness and health via Pilates, yoga and TRX.

Her transition from avid fitness client to group fitness instructor came in 2012 when she was approached by an acquaintance to help open the first barre3 studio in Ohio as a founding instructor, right in her hometown of Upper Arlington. Teaching barre3 was a life-changing moment in Kim’s life. She adored connecting with, motivating, and caring for her clients. Over the years, Kim’s constant love of learning pushed her to grow her role at the studio becoming a part of the operations team, handling instructor scheduling and becoming a mentor to hold workshops for existing instructors as well as help onboard new ones. She felt she had found her true calling, and in January 2020 decided to dive-in to full time fitness instruction and work towards becoming certified to teach Pilates as well.

Kim received her 500-hour Comprehensive Pilates Certification in 2021 from The Lab by Lifted Studio, including certifications in mat, reformer, magic circle, pilates arc, chair, ladder barrel and the Cadillac. She teaches a combination of classical and contemporary pilates to clients aged 10-75, both one-on-one and in group settings. She is a single mother of three teenagers, mama to an adorable English Bulldog named Buttercup, avid music-lover, and is truly living her dream-job: connecting with, caring for, and enhancing others lives through the magic of movement.

NANCY BROWN

Nancy’s Pilates journey began in 2000 after giving birth to her third child in Atlanta, Georgia. It only took one class to know she had stumbled onto something special. After many years working in the fitness industry as a personal trainer and aerobics teacher, Pilates felt nurturing and healing. Giving up the squat rack and elliptical machine took some time, but Nancy shifted and never looked back.

Nashville was the next stop for the Brown family after five years in Atlanta. This is where Nancy was introduced to the Lotte Berk Method of ballet barre exercise. The combination of Pilates and barre became Nancy’s true love. Several years later, moving back to her hometown of Columbus, Ohio, meant leaving her practice behind. After a short time of missing her classes so much, Nancy pursued a certification in Pilates through the PhysicalMind Institute of New York City, where she met Jordan. In the months to come, Nancy was invited by her barre mentor to return to Nashville for the first certification class of BarreAmped. She ultimately completed training and became certified in BarreAmpted levels I, II, III, Bootcamp, and Fire. In May 2012, Nancy opened a boutique barre studio in German Village called Studio B Wellness. As the founder and master instructor, Nancy trained her staff, which grew to six instructors. Remaining a student has always been important to Nancy. She continued learning with training under Tracey Mallett, an internationally recognized Pilates instructor and the creator of Booty Barre in Pasadena, California. Nancy also holds levels I-III from the esteemed Core Fusion in New York, training directly under the creators Fred DeVito and Elisabeth Halfpapp.

In 2018, after enjoying five strong years of success at Studio B, Nancy made the difficult decision to close the doors to her beloved studio to move to the island of Bermuda. Returning to Columbus shortly before the pandemic for a family visit, Nancy sustained a serious leg injury. During physical therapy, as she was recovering from her injury, Nancy turned her attention back to Pilates, knowing its robust healing process was exactly what she needed. Soon after, she pursued a comprehensive classical Pilates certification with Power Pilates, New York. Nancy completed 600 hours of training, education, observation, extensive testing, and an 18-month apprenticeship while teaching barre classes five to six days a week.

Nancy is known for her fun playlists and energetic classes. Her years of experience and understanding of form and function allow her to make even tiny adjustments to her students while cueing to next-level intensity. Her technique has been proven to be results-oriented. She always encourages you to put form first and look for strength and stillness. Her favorite saying is, “You are only one teaser away from a good mood.”

The mother of three grown children scattered across the country and grandmother “Gigi” of two darling grandsons, Nancy uses her free time for travel to visit family and friends. She can also be found out and about with Joie, her Miniature Dachshund.
